Location Ideas
Outside the college (at the front)
Next to the wyke sign - this would be an ideal place because its the college sign and helps to emphasize that its a college magazine.
Sports hall - This would also be ideal because the magazines theme is sport and its a nice link to the sports hall.
Changing rooms - Again this would be a good place because its linked to sport and the theme of the magazine is sport.
Football pitches - This is linked to sport and football is one of the most popular sports around the world and at wyke so it would fit in nicely.
3G pitches
Rugby posts - Rugby is another common sport and would fit into a sporty magazine well.
Outside of the sports hall
Next to a bus - I don't really like this idea because it has no relevance to the magazine as the magazine is sporty/academic themed and at the moment I don't have any plans to include an article about buses.

Canteen
Next to the lockers
Near the bikes - This links to sport in a way so it would be an ideal location, biking is a type of sport and it will show the reader that it's not just about the popular sports but it's also about less popular sports.

Feature Story Ideas
One feature story I have thought about is 'does sport effect your grades?' I like this idea because it's a common argument and it brings the college/learning side and the sport side together by using a common debate that people will be interested to read.
Do's and don'ts for the first year in sport. I like this idea because it is something that a lot of people would read however it's not something that people who aren't in their first year would read.
How to balance your sports and your study time. This again is something that a lot of people would take an interest in because it's something a lot of people would find useful, It also includes a topic about learning so it's not a one sided magazine.
Everything you need to know about football. I don't really like this idea because it only really gives you one topic to talk about and doesn't include anything academic because after all it is a college magazine and students are the target audience so to give the magazine a wider audience you can't just talk about football. Another reason why it's a bad idea is because its a sport magazine not a football magazine so you need to include a wider range of sports.

Colour Scheme Ideas
One idea I had was vector shapes which would include multiple colours. I like this idea because its bright and eye catching which will attract people to the magazine. I also think any image will go with a theme like this.
Another idea I've thought about is black and lime green, the background would be black with the text being lime green. I like this idea because lime green would really stand out from the black. This may seem really targeted towards one gender however this would only be one half of the magazine, the other half will be red and white, this will give it a balanced audience. However the front cover will be black with lime green because the target audience will mainly be men because it's about sport/football and generally there are more men then women who play football.
Another idea I have is green and yellow because they're both bright and it would be very eye catching. And it's not really set to one gender therefore its neutral. Although it's not really a colour that you'd associate with college students.

Name Ideas
The Daily Kick- I like this name because it is sporty based and one of the main genres of my magazine is sport.
The Wyke Shot- I like this name because it links wyke and sports together so in the magazine you could talk about wyke related issues and sport related news.
The Daily Shot- I dont think this is as good as the name 'The Wyke Shot' because it doesn't allow you to talk about college related news.
Wyke Sports Magazine- I don't like this name as its boring and its not a name a lot of people will find attractive.
Wyke Daily Mail- This name and it's basically copying off 'Hull Daily mail'. Also it's not original.
Wyke Sports News- I like this name because again it gives you two options to talk about in the articles.

Semiotics/LIIAR analysis
The image shows a woman in a pink dress holding a perfume
bottle. The perfume bottle is about the quarter of her size which
isn't the normal size for a perfume bottle. The institution have used this to
make the viewer see the perfume as gentle and cute which will
attract their audience which is young age.
There is an alarm clock in the background which reads 9am
which is quite early in the morning and the fact she is dressed in
Some sort of nighty shows she has just woken up. The institution want
it to be seen as when you wear the perfume whatever time of the day
it is you will still look great which will appeal to the younger
audience because they all want to look prettier than their
friends.
I think the institution have put the perfume bottle over her breasts
so the advert wont be seen as seductive or revealing because of the
institutions audience. Parents wouldn't buy it for their kids if
the woman was revealing her cleavage because that's not something
they'd want their daughters to do.
